BIG: Barack Obama will campaign for Secretary of State candidates facing extremist election-deniers in key 2024 battleground states.
CNN reports: "It is exceedingly rare for a former president to campaign for races so far down the ballot, illustrating the importance of those positions for the 2024 election."
This comes after the president, Liz Cheney, and others have issued dire warnings about 2024 with Cheney saying: "We have candidates for Secretary of State who may refuse to report the actual results of the popular vote."
John, thousands of PCCC members across the country have been donating to Democratic, pro-democracy Secretary of State campaigns in battleground states for over a year to protect the offices that will oversee the 2024 election.
Election security experts have joined the chorus of warnings. An election-denier serving as Secretary of State is "a prospect that security experts call potentially catastrophic for American democracy," reports Politico.
Discussing the threat to our elections, political columnist Elie Mystal says, "We are not approaching a constitutional crisis; the crisis is upon us. And the question is: What do we do about it?"
Secretary of State races don't always get tons of national scrutiny. But as Barack Obama, President Biden, Liz Cheney, and others confirm, Democrats cannot afford to ignore the elections that will determine who conducts, oversees, and counts the votes for the 2024 election.
