Announcing the BUS Act
This morning, I joined Mornings with Maria on Fox Business to announce the BUS Act (Bringing Undocumented Immigrants to Sanctuary Cities), a bill I am working on to pay border cities and states back for the costs of busing migrants from the border around the country as we attempt to mitigate President Biden's border crisis.
If self-declared "Sanctuary Cities" want to flout federal law and encourage illegal immigration, Texas shouldn't have to foot the bill.

Condemning Antisemitism
This week, the Foreign Affairs Committee considered H.R. 2374, the Peace and Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act. The bill notes that school-aged children in the West Bank and Gaza are learning from American taxpayer-funded textbooks containing materials that delegitimize Israel, denigrate Jews, and support martyrdom. It’s alarming to learn that our taxpayer dollars are unknowingly promoting this hateful propaganda.
One of the members of the committee, Rep. Ilhan Omar, refused to vote on my amendment. This is no surprise, given that she repeatedly makes statements accusing Israel of being an apartheid state and claims Israel has "hypnotized the world." Her hateful rhetoric about the Jewish people and Israel has NO place in Congress, and her refusal to denounce antisemitism is telling.

Committed to Homeland Security
This week, Homeland Security Democrats hosted our final committee markup of this Congress on a climate change bill. This means that in two years, the committee charged with the security of our nation did not hold a SINGLE hearing on border security. Completely unacceptable.
I introduced an amendment to their ridiculous climate change bill to review the REAL environmental impacts of illegal immigration… mounds of trash, dead bodies, destroyed farmland, houses burned to the ground, and the enormous amount of money state and local governments have spent cleaning this up and keeping us safe.
Democrats refused to acknowledge the crisis their policies have created, blamed Republicans, and watered down my amendment.
I will continue pushing solutions like my bill, the American Border Rescue Plan Act, that would help alleviate some of the financial burdens by allowing state and local authorities to use stimulus funds appropriated in the American Rescue Plan to help cover the costs of protecting their communities when President Biden will not. Fentanyl Roundtable
Fentanyl is 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Drug trafficking, illicit manufacturing, and a wide-open southern border have led to fentanyl being the leading killer of our young people ages 18-45. Most who die from fentanyl poisoning didn't even know they were consuming drugs.
This is a tragic crisis exacerbated by President Biden's open border policies. Our community's proximity to the border makes this even worse for our children and families. It's affecting our colleagues, our schools, and our homes.
House Republicans are committed to shining a spotlight on the current fentanyl crisis spreading throughout our country. Thank you to the brave families who shared their stories of loss to fentanyl poisoning at our roundtable. You are heard, and your loss will never be forgotten. I will continue to work on keeping our families safe.
We must close the southern border and protect our communities once and for all. Enough is enough.

President Biden's Inflation Crisis
The Biden White House is entirely tone-deaf. On the day we learned that prices spiked 8.3% in the month of August, and the worst day for the stock market since peak-pandemic June 2020, Democrats celebrated their reckless "Inflation Expansion Act" as a saving grace for the current economic crisis.
These price spikes are largely driven by the extreme uptick in the costs of energy and food. Gas utility bills are up 33% and electricity is 15.8% more expensive than it was a year ago. It is no wonder that one in 6 American households cannot afford to pay their utility bills.
The Democrats' anti-American energy agenda is crushing American families. We must cut wasteful spending, return to pro-business policies, and unleash American energy independence.
I joined Fox Business to publicly invite anyone in the Biden Administration to come to our district and see the economic disaster their policies have created. We must get our country back on track. Watch my conversation with Kennedy Montgomery on Fox Business by clicking here or below.

Protecting Our Second Amendment Rights
The International Organization for Standards recently implemented a new code for credit card companies to specifically track firearm and ammunition sales. In an era of unprecedented government overreach, this could be another step towards infringing on our Second Amendment Rights.
I am proud to join my fellow Republicans in demanding answers from the credit card companies and protecting our Constitutional right to bear arms.

Remembering 9/11
This Sunday was the twenty-first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our homeland that would forever change our nation. We took the time to pause, to remember and to honor the 2,977 Americans who lost their lives in the worst terror attacks on our country, and to pray for comfort and healing for their family members who are no doubt continuously reminded of their grief.
We all remember the day when time seemingly stood still. I was a young airman just about to complete pilot training school in Del Rio, Texas. The events of 9/11 ignited my resolve to serve our country.
Freedom does not come without a cost. So many brave men and women have given everything for the safety of our communities and the security of our children. Every single day, service members and their families make sacrifices to defend our safety, and so that our freedom can be ensured, so that we may never be gripped by such breathless terror again.
I am grateful to have spent a solemn and special morning in Odessa at the 2nd annual 9/11 Never Forgotten Commemoration. My oldest daughter and I were honored to ride in the procession of local law enforcement that drove through Odessa starting at 8:46 a.m. — the exact time the first NYC tower was hit — and ending at the Chris Kyle Memorial.
I want to say a special thank you to Ector County Judge-elect Dustin Fawcett for organizing the memorial, and ALL our law enforcement and first responders.
Thank you to all my fellow servicemen and women and your families for the countless sacrifices you have made over the past twenty-one years to keep our country safe. We must remain vigilant in protecting the security of our Nation. God bless you, and may God continue to bless America.

A Community Leader
It was a pleasure to have Sherley Spears and some of her family stop by during their visit to D.C. Sherley's work as President of San Angelo's NAACP is such an inspiration. She has always gone above and beyond in her dedication to our community, and we all benefit greatly from her leadership.

Midland AIRSHO
I was honored to participate in the AIRSHO at the Midland Airpark last weekend to celebrate American aircraft and aviators.
Thank you to Commemorative Air Force and Chevron for sponsoring, and all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the day possible.
