When I lost my seat in Congress, President Obama called me.

He called to thank me for voting for the Affordable Care Act.

At the time, it was not the “politically smart” thing to do in the face of Republican smear campaigns that lied about the life-saving bill.

But it was the right thing to do. The Affordable Care Act has been a resounding success. That vote is still one of the proudest of my career.

So look, I’m emailing you today because the Trump Administration has launched another round of attacks on the ACA, in a desperate attempt to erase President Obama’s landmark achievement.

I’ve fought for the ACA before and I will risk it all to do it again. But I rely on the support of grassroots donors like you.

So I’m humbly asking: Will you chip in $5 today to help me keep fighting in Congress?

Growing up, my parents instilled in me that doing the right thing may not be the easiest path, but it is always worth it.

That remains my guiding principle as a Congresswoman.

And I must admit, it horrifies me to see Republicans put big-dollar donors above the health of their fellow Americans.

My unwavering commitment has made me a top GOP target, but make no mistake:

I lost my seat fighting to make sure families don’t go bankrupt over health care costs and to make sure folks don’t get denied health care for having a pre-existing condition. And I will fight for that again -- no matter the cost.
