Are you packing your bags for Atlanta, John?

The Network Building Team at Prosperity Now has been deep into planning special sessions and activities for you at the Prosperity Summit, and we can hardly believe that collectively, we have been to 8 Summits so far!

But John, this is going to be our biggest and boldest Summit yet. As a key member of our Networks, we’re sharing some key sessions, plenaries, and symposiums you won’t want to miss. At 9 AM on opening day, we’ll be holding “classes” at Prosperity University: Networks for Movement Building 101 – where we’ll have breakfast and deep dive into Prosperity Now’s Networks. And throughout the Summit you can stop by the Prosperity Hub, your one-stop location to meet the Prosperity Now team and fellow Summit guests to connect, take action, discover our Scorecard, and make an impact towards our shared work to transform our economy to work for everyone.

Monday, 9/19

10:00 AM – Opening Plenary: Economic Justice Rooted in History. Prosperity Summit 2022 kicks off with an opening session that will explore racial and ethnic economic justice rooted in history as we build the drumbeat forward. Panelists include Kevin Killer, Manuel Pastor, our very own Gary Cunningham, and COMMON!

3:15 PM – Main Stage Plenary: The Call to Community Centered Design.

Featuring the Shared Prosperity Catalyst collaboration, this conversation will highlight the critical importance of centering the voices and lived experiences of communities in the design of product, program and policy solutions for economic equity and justice.

4:30 PM – Symposiums

The Path to Repair and Redress: Global Learning and Racial Justice Now. Canopy Collective presents a discussion about the movement for reparations for Black Americans in the age of our global reckoning with race. Moderated by reparations luminary Nkechi Taifa.

The Equity Movement and Native Communities: Honoring and Observance.

This session will feature a discussion on the economic and historic implications of dispossessing Native Americans of their land and resources combined with recognition of the substantive work Native leaders are accomplishing in the asset building movement.

Tuesday, 9/20

8:30 AM – Main Stage Plenary: Using Data to Advance Racial Wealth Equity.

An important conversation with National Book Award-winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author, and antiracist scholar, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, followed by a panel on the importance of data in racial economic justice policy and narrative change.

12:45 PM – Main Stage Plenary: Big Ideas for Economic Equity.

This plenary will focus on local solutions that can be scaled, national proposals that will have the reach and wherewithal to transform, and insight from some of the leading voices, such as the New School’s Darrick Hamilton.

4:40 PM – Symposiums

Federal Agency Forum on Consumer Solutions.

This featured symposium will center on the critical role government plays in ensuring the equitable administration of government benefits and protections and how federal agencies can advance racial equity while carrying out their respective agency missions.

Media Symposium: Sustaining Coverage for Racial and Economic Inequity in the Information Age.

Join us to participate in a discussion among leading media experts, journalists and practitioners as they talk about their approach to coverage of racial wealth disparities, pay gaps and housing affordability, among other pressing topics. Together, we will explore the question, ‘How can the media better cover the movement to reimagine racial and ethnic economic justice?’

Wednesday, 9/21

9:00 AM – Main Stage Plenary: Economic Equity Across Sectors.

The plenary leverages the inflection point and the opportunities for transformative systems change that have come over the past 2 years in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impact as well as the civil unrest in response to the murders of Black and Brown individuals at the hands of law enforcement officers.

12:30 PM – Closing Plenary: Democracy, Economic Justice & Our Call to Action.

This panel explores how we can make democracy in states and throughout the nation vibrant and inclusive, and the impact that it can have on economic justice and full economic opportunity.

1:30 PM – Prosperity Encore.
