I need you to trust me as I say this to you, Friend:

I will never – ever – stop standing up to extremist Republicans like Donald Trump and his Senate allies, like Mitch McConnell. They are absolutely determined to undermine our fundamental rights – everything from the right to vote in a free and fair election to the freedom to decide when and whether to bear children. Their agenda obstucts protecting our planet. It obstructs protecting our children and streets from gun violence. This is an agenda I'll do everything in my power to fight.

But my efforts have made me a target for defeat. With a Senate split 50-50, we simply cannot afford to take this (or any) Democratic seat for granted.

That's why I'm reaching out with a troubling update: Ahead of our public FEC reporting deadline, I'm $2,741 short of what I need to raise. I'm humbly asking for a donation to get back on track. Please, donate $5 or more to protect this seat and keep Senate under Democratic control.

We're up against powerful forces: Mitch McConnell's Senate campaign arm has already spent $86 million this year alone in an effort to take back control of the Senate. It will take them just a single seat to succeed.

Shifting political grounds have me even more concerned. I'm up against Donald Trump's hand-picked opponent. The RNC opened a new office in this state – christened by Trump acolyte and RNC Chairperson herself, Ronna McDaniel – and McDaniel returned there yesterday to campaign with my opponent. Senator Rick Scott of Florida – chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the GOP's fundraising powerhouse – is personally here in Connecticut to host a $25,000 per person dinner in support of my opponent.

I won't parse words: They are making this state, and this Senate seat, a target.

That's why I must ask: With Democratic Senate control on the line, will you please donate $5 or whatever you can to help me close this fundraising gap before our public FEC reporting deadline? Whatever you can spare will ensure we have the resources to protect this seat and Senate control.

Thanks for all you do.
