Radical candidates aren't the only thing we need to be worrying about, Jack.
This summer, ex-professor and self-appointed election fraud evangelist, David Clements, spent months persuading local leaders not to certify election results. Clements has a strategy to target county commissioners, county clerks, and other lower-profile jobs that can throw the outcome of elections. What happened? Three New Mexico counties either delayed or refused to certify their primary election results.
The misinformation that Clements is spreading isn’t just swaying elected officials, but the general public. He has attracted a large following online where he spreads conspiracy theories mixed with Christian nationalist and, oftentimes, violent rhetoric.
Because of Clements and people like him, we are genuinely worried about violence against election officials and workers, especially in this upcoming November election. We are losing valuable, educated, and qualified workers because of an increase in threats toward them.
Radical conservatives are doing everything in their power to brainwash New Mexicans with fear-mongering and baseless misinformation. We must work hard to embrace truth over fiction and save our democracy. With Maggie in office, we can always count on free and fair elections for all.
Onward,
