Last week, the epicenter of the ongoing battle against the radical Left’s increasingly authoritarian woke agenda arrived in South Carolina. The University of South Carolina canceled a two-game women’s basketball series against Brigham Young University in the aftermath of allegations made by a Duke University volleyball player–and her radical activist godmother–that racial slurs were leveled against her during Duke’s match with BYU.

A thorough and subsequent investigation by both BYU officials and independent reporters verified what many suspected at the time the accusations were made: the incident never happened. Once again, another Jussie Smollet-inspired race hoax was fabricated to serve the progressive narrative and destructive lie that America is a systemically racist nation. And per usual, the New York Times, ESPN, and other left-wing outlets ran with the narrative without verifying the actual facts.

Fortunately, the South Carolina Freedom Caucus is not allowing their state’s flagship university to get away with perpetuating the damnable lie that took hold in the partisan press. Instead, they chose to fight back and stand up against the woke madness devouring our institutions and seeking to destroy our civil society.

Members of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus sent a letter ([link removed]) to women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley and athletic director Ray Tanner outlining the facts of the race hoax perpetrated by the activist godmother of the Duke University volleyball player at the center of the fake story. These warrior legislators have demanded the university comply with an official FOIA request on all records regarding the school’s decision to cancel the games against BYU and to uphold the “commitment to the deeply American tenets of the presumption of innocence and fairness.”

And now that the investigation ([link removed]) into the alleged incident has proven that it never occurred (even CNN is conceding it!! ([link removed]) ), the South Carolina Freedom Caucus is demanding that their state university reschedule the games and issue an apology to BYU and the broader public for acting without regard for the truth.

This is exactly how conservative lawmakers are supposed to fight for their constituents and against the radical Left’s hateful and divisive obsession with Critical Race Theory. Indeed, if it weren’t for the very existence of the South Carolina Freedom Caucus, no South Carolina elected officials would be holding these institutions accountable for their submission to the woke mob.

Creating organized bands of conservative warriors in state legislatures is precisely what the State Freedom Caucus Network is doing.
