We knew that they would not stop at abortion. And since SCOTUS released its Dobbs ruling in June, effectively removing the constitutionally protected right to abortion, we have watched an emboldened pro-life movement work to remove all bodily autonomy.

Fetal personhood has always been a main goal – and it goes beyond banning abortion. Fetal personhood laws would grant a fetus the same legal rights as a person. This has wide, over-reaching, and horrifying consequences that work to criminalize people for pregnancy outcomes. [1]

Pregnancy is a medical condition with a wide variety of outcomes caused by a wide variety of reasons. No one should be criminalized for a pregnancy outcome.

Already we’re seeing patients undergoing IVF frantic over who will be able to dictate what they can do with their frozen embryos post-Roe [2] as well as pregnant women being held in jail for months to supposedly protect their fetuses from drugs. [3]

This is a terrifying new reality, but it’s not one we have to accept. Give today. Fight back.
