The Story Behind the Story. A conversation about PublicSource local government and higher education reporting. 7 PM Sept. 21, 2022 on Crowdcast. Pictures of higher education reporter Emma Folts and local government reporter Charlie Wolfson on a blue background. Register for this free event.
This summer, PublicSource higher education reporter Emma Folts broke a story on a draft policy at Carnegie Mellon University that would have allowed the use of facial recognition technology on campus. After Emma's reporting and the resulting public feedback, CMU dropped its draft policy.

Meanwhile, local government reporter Charlie Wolfson investigated how Pittsburgh's police department and school district have failed for more than a decade to agree on a cooperative agreement that is required by state law.

Join our reporters on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 at 7 pm to learn how these stories came together, the reaction they provoked, the lingering questions and what's next. Register for the event here.
