Jack, this is a red alert moment: Republican Gov. Brian Kemp has been caught on tape saying he is open to banning contraception in the state of Georgia.
The right-wing supermajority on the Supreme Court already struck down Roe v. Wade. They might do the same to Griswold v. Connecticut—the landmark 1965 decision that said the government could not restrict access to contraceptives for married couples and was the precedent for other contraception cases—if they're given the chance.
Think I'm being alarmist? I'm not. Think this is too far for even the GOP to go? It's not. A large majority of Americans supported Roe—and it's gone now. Many Republicans said that overturning Roe would return the issue of abortion to the states, but now Lindsey Graham has introduced a national abortion ban. Clarence Thomas has already said he's ready to overturn Griswold.
