The House has passed the Respect for Marriage Act, which would enshrine marriage equality for same-sex and interracial marriages.
Senate Democrats have announced they're planning to vote on the Respect for Marriage Act after November's election -- and we're still unsure if there are enough votes to overcome a filibuster.
With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, millions of American women had their right to reproductive freedom taken away by an extremist MAGA Supreme Court. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a concurring opinion hinting that same sex marriage would be next.
As the radical conservative Supreme Court threatens even more of our rights, we need Senate Republicans to step up and do the right thing for their fellow Americans! Pass the Respect for Marriage Act NOW!
Add your name: Tell the Senate we should all have the right to marry someone we love! Pass the Respect for Marriage Act NOW!
Jim Obergefell, the man who won the Supreme Court case for marriage equality, says “the right to privacy, that's something we all deserve as human beings. It's something that our constitution should keep sacrosanct, but [overturning Roe] takes that away."
In a proactive move to counter the radical SCOTUS, Democrats want to ensure marriage equality will be federally protected. Now the Senate must pass the Respect for Marriage Act.
Democrats plan to force a vote this year. We will see if Republicans actually do care about freedom for all Americans. This is not a political issue. It is a human rights issue.
Tell the Senate it is time to PASS the Respect for Marriage Act! Protect human and civil rights!
Love is love is love.
