Tonight is the last Democratic presidential debate of 2019 - and Democrats are still shying away from economic issues when they should be shouting their positions from the rooftops.

Here's what we know: Under Democratic presidents, the economy typically thrives - and when a Republican is in the White House, the economy is sluggish. Yet, for some reason, the American public still trusts Republicans more than Democrats on economic policies, even though Republican economies help the super wealthy. We need to stop judging the economy based on how well it's doing for rich people.

It's time for Democrats to correct this misperception by owning bold progressive economic policies and making the strong - and indisputable - case that policies which fight trickle-downers with strong regulations, high wages, and taxes on the wealthy are great for the economy.

The failure to effectively communicate about economic policy is one of the biggest problems Democrats are facing. That's why it's more important than ever that Democrats pick a candidate who can destroy Donald Trump's robber baron economic policies and replace them with policies that put the middle class back at the center of the economy - right where they belong.
