Today’s the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month, a day to celebrate our rich and diverse culture and recommit ourselves to the fight for our families.

Every day I’ve held office, I’ve used my platform to fight for working families, Latinos, and immigrants like me. And I know firsthand that one of the most important steps is ensuring our communities have a voice in our government.
I’ve fought for Latino representation in Congress and up and down the ballot here in Chicagoland – and our movement is growing stronger every year. In November, we’re poised to elect the first Latina Congresswoman to the Midwest and a slate of progressive Latino leaders, but we can’t take anything for granted.
