I’d like to talk about the work Michael Bennet and I have been doing to help Colorado’s Latino communities grow and thrive.

Orale Compa,

This is Senadora Julie Gonzales! Michael invited me to reach out in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, and I’d like to take this opportunity to talk about the work we’ve been doing together to help Colorado’s Latino communities grow and thrive.

As the Chicana daughter of a rancher and a teacher, let me say one thing. The needs of our Latino communities aren’t so very different from those of all Coloradans: good schools, quality health care, reproductive freedom, and the opportunity to build a better life.

Michael understands that, and he and I have stood side-by-side to fight for solutions to our Latino communities’ everyday challenges.

As a former school superintendent himself, Michael has seen the difference a quality education makes in kids’ lives — and how poverty impacts educational attainment for too many children. He’s working to combat child poverty as a leading advocate of the expanded Child Tax Credit, and he's fighting to make college more affordable and expand access to career and technical training and apprenticeships.

Michael has not forgotten the founders’ message that everyone deserves to build a life here in America. Together, he and I have fought to keep families together and pass commonsense immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship, and grows our economy. Republican opposition has blocked many of the changes we need, but Michael is still fighting for us.

And Michael has always been clear that Coloradans’ reproductive health care decisions should be between them and their doctor. As a State Senator, I helped codify abortion protections into Colorado law, and I'm grateful to have Michael in the Senate — defending that progress from the threat of a nationwide abortion ban.

I’m proud to support Michael Bennet in one of the most competitive Senate races in the country. Please join me in voting for him this November so he can continue to fight for Colorado’s Latino communities in the US Senate!

Mil gracias,

Senadora Julie
