A recent report from the New York Times found that nearly a fifth of all
Members of Congress reported a stock trade that reveals a possible
conflict of interest.

Elected leaders should be working for their constituents, not their stock
portfolios. That’s why Katie introduced the Stock Act 2.0 and has been
pushing Congress to enact a strong, substantive ban on stock trading for
Members, their spouses, and their children.

These conflicts of interest are clear: One of Katie’s colleagues on the
Oversight Committee traded stocks for the pharmaceutical company AbbVie at
the exact same time the Oversight Committee investigated them.

This isn’t just a Republican or a Democrat issue, leaders from both sides
are trading stocks related to the industries they oversee. Members who
oversee environmental issues shouldn’t be tading Exxon Mobil stock, and
Members who oversee the defense industry shouldn’t be trading Boeing or
Lockheed Martin.

Katie’s proud to stand up to corruption—and she doesn’t accept campaign
contributions from corporate PACs or lobbyists. But she’s running for
reelection in what is her toughest race yet. Our district is made up of
equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats and because of redistricting,
nearly 70% of the voters are new to Katie.
