Pumpkins are coming!

The Pumpkin Pick-Up tradition returns to Venue 1012. Oswego families can stop by to pick up their free pumpkin on Sunday, October 16 from noon to 3 p.m.

Children (and adults) are encouraged to come in costume and snap a few photos with the festive autumn decorations. The event is first come, first served with a limit of one pumpkin per child. 500 pumpkins will be distributed. Proof of residency required.?

Oct. 22 event benefits breast cancer organizations

With October recognized as breast cancer awareness month, Oswego will present?Wine OFF the Fox, a benefit concert at?Venue 1012, on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 2 to 7 p.m. In addition to wine tasting, two girl bands will perform at this exciting event.

More than 15 selections from regional wineries, seasonal craft beer from Oswego Brewing Co., a signature cocktail and non-alcoholic options will be available. A variety of local food options will also be offered.

Jersey Girls, a popular band known for their glitzy costumes and heavenly harmonies, will headline the event with Serendipity, an all-girl band from the Chicago suburbs, performing ?60s, ?70s and ?80s covers, as well as pop hits.

Wine OFF the Fox will help support local and national breast cancer organizations?Rush Copley/Waterford Place Cancer Resource?Center,?Edward Foundation Breast Program Fund?and the?American Cancer Society?with 10% of the ticket proceeds.

Wine OFF the Fox tickets?are on sale now. Advance tickets range from $60 VIP package to $20 general admission.?

Kick off the holiday season on Dec. 2

Save the date for this year's Christmas Walk on Friday, December 2 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. The Village of Oswego is planning a fantastic holiday extravaganza complete with twinkling lights, live entertainment, all-ages activities and a colorful parade.

Oswego businesses and local non-profit organizations are encouraged to participate with a booth or an in-store experience.?Applications?are now available online. Volunteers are also needed to help make this annual event a success.?

Recycle bottle caps at home

The project to collect bottle caps and lids at Village Hall for Kendall Country Fairgrounds benches has ended. Drop-off at?Village Hall is no longer available.?Please do not bring these items to Village Hall.

Please recycle lids and caps in your home recycling container. Rinse out the bottle and lid, then either put the lid back on the container or simply place the lid in your recycling bin.

Don't miss the?free child safety seat check?on Saturday, September 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. hosted by the Oswego Police Department, Oswego Fire Protection District and the Kendall County Sheriff's Department.?The event takes place at Oswego Fire District, Station #1 at 3511 Woolley Road.
