John, Today, we gathered at the Capitol to relaunch Virginia Values, the coalition working to create a Virginia that reflects our shared values of fairness, dignity, and respect. In 2020, our sights are set on updating Virginia law to ensure that LGBTQ Virginians can live their lives free from discrimination in employment, housing, and public spaces. Will you help us use the momentum from this relaunch and underscore with lawmakers how important this legislation is? Send a quick email to Speaker-designate Filler-Corn (who stood with us today!) and the rest of legislative leadership to let them know. Right now, LGBTQ Virginians can be fired, evicted, or denied service in public places like restaurants, shops and even doctor’s offices—just for being themselves. That’s unacceptable. Everyone should feel welcome in our Commonwealth, no matter who they are or who they love. That’s why people of faith, public safety officials, local advocates, and Virginians from all walks of life are coming together under the Virginia Values banner. We want you with us in this fight, John, as we sprint toward the 2020 legislative session. Contact the incoming House leadership today and urge them to keep supporting LGBTQ nondiscrimination in 2020. We want a brighter future for our LGBTQ friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors—and we know you do too. Let’s get to work. Sincerely, Vee Lamneck Deputy Director |
