Join IDP in the Fight for Immigrant Rights in 2020!
In observation of yesterday’s International Migrants Day, the Immigrant Defense Project honors and stands in solidarity with all migrants and displaced peoples who have made sacrifices and endured tremendous hardships in the face of an ever-hardening global border-security regime that reinforces an increasingly unequal world.
"Migrants, Picnic across the border, Tecate, Mexico - USA, 2017" by JR
In the past year, we have all been witness to the horrors of the increasingly fortified U.S.-Mexico border. The practices used to realize Trump’s vision of a “big, beautiful wall” have exacerbated the violence of extreme migration control—migrant deaths, illness and death in detention facilities, and children separated from their parents.

Alongside the build-up of the boundary, the U.S. has vastly expanded the means to surveil, lock up, and deport people throughout the country. The criminalization of immigrants has become increasingly central to the definition of who is deemed unworthy of belonging, and, with each passing day, the immigration system continues to become more punitive.

IDP allies and stands in solidarity with organizations around the world that defend migrant rights. We will continue to fight the hate and harm that lies at the heart of this system—and remain steadfast in our commitment to fighting against criminalization and for the rights of all immigrants.
