Answer the Call of Fall Fishing
Group fishing from a boat [ [link removed] ]

Fall fishing can be some of the best of the year. Saltwater fishing is at its peak as Sept. sees redfish move from the bays to the Gulf, and Oct. finds flounder doing the same. Try the Laguna Madre for redfish, black drum and seatrout, Rockport for flounder. Sign up for our free Gulf Coast Fishing Reports [ [link removed] ] for updates.

Freshwater fish also become more active as water temps cool. To find a spot near you, try the "Where to Fish" tool in the freshwater fishing section of the Outdoor Annual app [ [link removed] ]. Use it to search for waterbodies from 5 to 50 miles of your location. Or visit any of these lakes for excellent fishing:

Choke Canyon [ [link removed] ] – S of San Antonio

Lake Naconiche [ [link removed] ] – N of Nacogdoches

Lake Limestone [ [link removed] ] – E of Waco

Download the ShareLunker app [ [link removed] ] so when you catch that 8+ pound bass this fall, you can enter it and claim your chance to win a $5000 Bass Pro Shops gift card.

For more tips on fishing in fall, read the "Texas Parks & Wildlife" magazine story, The Direction of Fall Fishing [ [link removed] ]. Fall is a refreshing time to be outside and the perfect time to fish – grab a friend or three and get out there!

Consider Carp

Angler holding carp, link to video [ [link removed] ]

If you haven't thought about fishing for common carp [ [link removed] ], think again. Carp is considered a world-class sport fish, and anglers from around the world come to Texas in search of it.

Carp put up a good fight and can be found in lakes and streams across the state. They can be caught with easy homemade carp baits [ [link removed] ], and many grow to monster size – always good for photos! Carp under 10 lbs. can be good eating, try any of our 7 recipes for carp [ [link removed] ].

There are no bag or size limits on common carp, except in Lady Bird Lake, where an angler may keep only one carp per day that's 33" or longer.

Find out more about the carp obsession in our video Catching Carp, the International Pursuit [ [link removed] ]. Get your own obsession started with the tips in How to Catch Carp [ [link removed] ]. Then join our free online class, Carp Fishing in Texas [ [link removed] ] on *Tues.,10/11 at 7 p.m.* for more advanced tips – sign up today, then try carp fishing this fall.
