WOBURN -- A day after several chartered flights delivered more than 40 individuals who illegally entered the country via the American southern border to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts Republican Party Chairman Jim Lyons called the outrage on display from Democrats "misplaced."
"The true outrage is coming from the taxpayers who are absorbing the burden of the current presidential administration's indifference to securing the American southern border," Lyons said, referencing the record number of migrants who've illegally entered the country since January 2021. "The solution is simple: do your job, secure the border, and stop incentivizing illegal immigration."
One incentive Lyons mentioned is the Democrats' new law granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants, a policy championed by Attorney General Maura Healey that will be subject to a referendum during November's election.
Lyons added that the Biden administration's "full-throated" support of illegal immigration is contributing to the divisions currently on display in America.
"This is just another example of Biden being divisive a president," Lyons said. "He's the one dividing the states one against another rather than uniting them behind a common national policy and common sense approach to immigration.
"The taxpayers of our Commonwealth should not be forced to bear the burden of the bungling and ill-prepared policy of Biden and his allies in the radical wing of the Democrat Party in this state."
