The Bureau of Justice Statistics seeks a Principal Deputy Director responsible for achieving BJS's strategic objectives and enhancing its statistical infrastructure through the oversight of several BJS substantive statistical program units. Job duties include the following?
- oversee the administration of and provide technical direction on a variety of national statistical programs and series on crime and the administration of justice
- provide leadership and direction to a professional staff contributing to advances in the area of survey and sample design, data collection methodologies, computational statistics, and analytic techniques
- serve as an advisor to the BJS Director on the most challenging problems facing an agency having responsibility for programs of national and international scope and impact
- direct the performance of complex methodological research for the development of new surveys in areas for which data are limited or not available.
