Twenty-eight years ago today, President Clinton signed the federal assault weapons ban into law. This was a landmark moment for our movement – one that Brady worked for arduously. Over the course of the 10 years it was in effect, deaths caused by assault rifles were notably reduced, confirming what we already knew: This policy saves lives.

But since the ban expired, mass shootings have drastically increased and grown far deadlier — from Las Vegas to Uvalde — and the nation lives in fear of the next active shooter attacking a school, church, or concert.

That's why we're calling on gun violence prevention champions like you, John. Because if we want to prevent the next mass shooting carried out with a weapon of war, we all have to come together and make our voices heard.
