This past weekend, I visited Ohio and spoke at multiple packed events for candidates who support protecting and expanding Social Security.

Two of my favorite Social Security champions are Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), who is running for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat, and Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), who is running for re-election to the U.S. House.

Ryan and Kaptur are both longtime champions of protecting and expanding our earned benefits — and they’re both running against Republicans who want to cut, privatize, and destroy Social Security.

Ryan's opponent, JD Vance, praised former Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to make massive cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Vance thinks these vital earned benefit programs are a waste of money, or in his words: "Roadblocks to any kind of real fiscal sanity."

Kaptur's opponent, J.R. Majewski, is endorsed by a far-right group that praised the "visionary leadership" of Sen. Rick Scott's plan to dismantle Social Security and Medicare. He’s also tried to undermine the very foundations of our government by participating in the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and promoting QAnon conspiracy theories.

We need to keep Marcy Kaptur in the U.S. House, elect Tim Ryan to the U.S. Senate, and keep Vance and Majewski far away from Congress!
