Ready to get back to school!
Last month our Family Shelter in Manchester held a back-to-school BBQ. The BBQ highlighted the end of summer and the beginning of the school year. Each child walked away with a backpack, lunch box, a gift card to Outfitters Thrift Store for back-to-school shopping, and a water bottle.
Our family shelter currently supports 11 families experiencing homelessness. Program participants and staff were joined by volunteers from Saint Anselm College to help support the BBQ and engage in games and activities.
Special thanks to Medicus Healthcare Solutions for making this possible! They packed and provided backpacks and school supplies. We are so grateful for all of our continued partnerships in the community who help support special events and programming.
One connection can make a real difference
Our team hosted a Resource Fair at our Adult Emergency Shelter in Manchester. Various community partners hosted tables in the dining room of the shelter to connect with program participants and educate them about available programs and services. Thank you to those who joined us to make it a success!
Special thanks to: The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester | Better Life Partners | U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs | Willows Treatment Center | Live Free Recovery Services | Light of Life | Bonfire Recovery Services | NH Division of Motor Vehicles
Outfitters Thrift Store is Celebrating a Major Milestone
In November, our Outfitters Thrift Store will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary! Exciting news after 20 years of business supporting a great cause! On Wednesday, November 9, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at 394 Second Street in Manchester, we will be hosting a food and clothing drive and offering some giveaways as well.
Outfitters has been a valuable resource to the community and to our organization, with 100% of proceeds going towards support for our mission. We invite you to stop by on November 9, shop for great deals, and bring your gently used clothing and household donations and non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry. You can review our High-Needs list ([link removed]) for some ideas.
Volunteer Opportunities
We always have shifts available each month where you can support our program needs. Volunteer as part of a group or as an individual, and provide direct or indirect service. If you’ve never volunteered with us, visit our volunteer page ([link removed]) and sign up for an orientation to get started today!
Tax-Smart Ways to Give
Here are two ways to give that will transform lives and save taxes:
Gifts from your IRA - If you are 72 or older, you can make a charitable gift from your IRA directly to a non-profit, and the IRS does not tax that portion of your required minimum distribution.
Appreciated stock – If held for more than a year, you can avoid paying capital gains on the increased value and receive a charitable deduction for the fair market value on the day you donate. To give a stock gift, our company is Fidelity, DTC 0226, account 645-062-658.
For any gift, our Tax ID # is 02-0475414, and our Legal Address is 122 Market Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
Thank you for helping your community through Families in Transition! If you have questions or need assistance, you can reach a Philanthropy Officer by emailing
