A NOTE FROM CHRISSY
I know it’s easy to feel overwhelmed anticipating the election, especially with fewer than 60 days until Election Day. But I want to remind you why winning in Pennsylvania’s 6th District is important: Our movement is about building a brighter future for all and ensuring that each member of PA-06 community has an equal opportunity at the American dream. That means defending our right to vote, protecting reproductive freedom, and alleviating economic hardships that make it difficult for working families to make ends meet. With that, I want to bring you good news about what we’ve achieved here in PA-06:
Lifting quality of life through better infrastructure
Just a few months after Hurricane Ida tore through Coatesville, Congress passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. We are now seeing local projects supercharged and slated for construction because of these investments. So it was an honor to gather at the Coatesville Train Station with leaders from our state and local governments, as well as the business community, to see exactly how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act directly benefits our community through long-awaited federal funds to invest in Pennsylvania’s roads, bridges, water infrastructure, and much more!
Building supportive ecosystems for small businesses and Black entrepreneurs
As a former small business owner, I know how incredibly hard it is to turn a good idea into a growing business. That’s why I hosted officials from the Small Business Administration (SBA) and local representatives of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) to celebrate and build on the historic agreement to reduce the Black wealth gap through entrepreneurship. This effort includes providing the highly entrepreneurial Black community access to networks, financial literacy, technical training, and capital readiness so they can successfully realize their American dreams of business ownership, create jobs, and advance our economy. While challenges undoubtedly remain, I appreciate the SBA’s focus on working with Black entrepreneurs to correct a systemic disparity, and I am eager to see the wealth gap close for members of our community.
Fighting for Farmers
It was a pleasure to be back at Walmoore Holsteins! During our farm tour, we discussed how the pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in our agricultural and food economy and how my work to pass the Inflation Reduction Act will help farmers utilize climate-smart practices, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon storage in soils and trees, and make their operations even more productive. I also held a telephone town hall meeting and shared how this legislation will benefit hardworking families and small businesses right here in Chester and Berks counties, while also answering any questions our community members might have. You can find the full audio recording of the town hall here.
