John, One year ago today, I announced I was running for Congress in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District to unseat MAGA extremist Yvette Herrell and give our district true representation in Washington.
I launched this campaign with family and friends by my side — since then, this has grown into an incredible people-powered movement of New Mexicans ready for change. I’ve spent my career in public service, working for Senator Martin Heinrich, serving on the Las Cruces City Council, bringing New Mexico’s youth into nature, and advocating for the conservation of our public lands. It would be my greatest honor to represent the hardworking, diverse people of NM-02 in Congress and fight for our rights to reproductive choice, affordable healthcare, good-paying jobs with livable wages, free and fair elections, and clean air and water. Yvette Herrell had her chance: she started her first term in Congress by voting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, and has spent the rest of it spreading conspiracy theories and opposing things like a $35 cap on insulin, abortion access, and better healthcare for our veterans. Herrell fights for Trump and their MAGA cult. I will fight for you, the people. We now have just 54 days left until the general election, and this seat is rated a toss-up. This is our chance to flip NM-02 and send Herrell packing — but we need to reach our fundraising goals to keep up the momentum in these final eight weeks.
The 2022 midterm election is one of the most critical elections in our lifetimes: this is our chance to make transformative change for NM-02 and prevent election-deniers and dangerous extremists like Herrell from moving our district, state, and country backward.
