Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month!

Celebrate with us: [link removed]

----------------------

With the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, this is the time where we celebrate the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors hail from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. This month is also an important reminder of how much strength we draw as a nation from our immigrant roots and our values as a nation of immigrants.

Here at NextGen America, we celebrate our diversity and civic engagement. We take pride in the work we put in all while making great strides to support and uplift the voices in the Latino community. Over the next month, we will be highlighting the diversity of our staff, volunteers, and our community.

Along with celebrating the diversity and cultures of the Latino community, we are also recognizing the issues the Latino community still faces today across the nation. U.S. Latinos are underpaid, under-resourced, and overlooked. It is time for us to take power and drive the conversation towards the issues that we care about.

Every 30 seconds, a young Latino in the U.S. becomes eligible to vote. With a record 32 million voters, Latinos are now the largest voting bloc in the U.S. after white Americans. The numbers don’t lie -- Latino voters have the political power to enact real change in our country.

As the Latino population in the United States becomes more politically active, it is important for politicians and policymakers to understand and reflect these values. From climate change to a just economy, Latinos can lead the way by taking our power to the next level -- the polls.

With the growth of the Latino community comes the power to impact the decisions being made at all levels of government. When we vote, organize, and fight for the things we believe in, with our numbers, we can effect real change.
