Be a Maine Deer Spy

doe with four fawns

Your sightings will help biologists better understand Maine's deer population. Volunteers are needed across the state and everyone can participate.

Participating is easy! When you see deer between August 1 and September 30, make a few simple observations:

  • Location
  • Date and time
  • The number of does (adult female deer with no antlers), bucks (deer with antlers), and/or fawns (young deer).

You can submit data online or by postal mail. Data recording instructions and examples of how to correctly record data are available online at mefishwildlife.com/deerspy
