Since 1983, The Academy has offered a sacred place for spiritually hungry pilgrims. It is an experience of authentic Christian community emphasizing a holistic spirituality that nurtures mind, body, and spirit. The Academy is one of the most highly regarded programs of its kind, providing a balanced approach to spiritual formation that fosters rhythms of study and prayer, silence and liturgy, solitude and relationship, rest and exercise, contemplation and action. Clergy and lay persons from all denominations or no denomination are welcome. The Academy’s most comprehensive and impactful offering, the Two-Year Academy, meets in the same location for five days every three months, totaling 40 days in residence over the course of two years.
The Upper Room is excited to announce the next Two-Year Academy (#42), to be held at Camp McDowell Retreat and Conference Center near Jasper, Alabama, with the first session beginning January 23, 2023.
