U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber and his copper-mining industry cronies will stop at nothing to force dangerous sulfide-ore copper mining in the watershed of the Boundary Waters.

Today, Rep. Stauber is using an obscure and unusual legislative process to attempt to block Congress from moving our Boundary Waters protections forward.

Boundary Waters opponents are lurking in the highest of places. In addition to Stauber's actions, Chilean mining conglomerate Antofagasta - the owner of Twin Metals - filed a lawsuit this summer in an attempt to resurrect their toxic sulfide-ore copper mine on the edge of the Boundary Waters. This lawsuit is a clear attempt to work against the will of the people.

How can we put an end to these severe, relentless attacks on the Boundary Waters? We have to win strong, long-term protections that can’t be easily unraveled by the mining industry or anyone’s future political whims. But we need your help.
