The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors has started an ad campaign urging Congress to pass the American Innovation and Choice Online Act, which it says will "level the playing field" between Amazon and companies that sell on its marketplace. "Amazon uses its marketplace as a trap to unfairly stamp out competition, by taking data from the millions of small businesses that rely on its platform and using it to compete against them," NAW CEO Eric Hoplin said.
Michelle Greene, Cardinal Health's new chief information officer, wants to optimize company technology and data to keep up with competitors, but she notes, "The first thing top of mind for me is talent." Greene intends to retain and develop employees through efforts such as the Digital U training program, which includes lessons in analytics, blockchain, design thinking and machine learning.
Lineage Logistics signed a full-building lease at Houston ColdPort, a 315,000-square-foot cold storage warehouse in Houston that is close to the Port of Houston. The European Commission should order Amazon to make its marketplace a separate entity, rather than merely stop some sales and marketing practices as the company has suggested, a group of 11 European organizations told regulators. Amazon made the proposal to try to halt an antitrust investigation, but the groups said it was "weak, vague and full of loopholes."
