We’re back with an update on the fees that exclude millions of immigrants from the American Dream. Trump’s DHS intends to significantly increase fees on immigration applications—pricing out millions from citizenship, lawful permanent residency (or green cards), work permits, asylum, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (or DACA) and more.

But, it’s not too late to help make a difference. There are still a few weeks left to oppose this regulation through public comment. EVERY comment must be answered and a large public opposition could make the difference for whether or not these new fees stay in place!

The new rule:

• Will increase DACA renewal fees, raising the total cost from $495 to $765—a 55% increase.
• Effectively end a long-standing fee waiver program that has kept naturalization, green card renewals, and other benefits accessible.
• Increase the cost of naturalization from $640 to $1,170—an 83% increase.
• Introduce a new charge on asylum applications.

On top of all of this, the new rule transfers $112 million that should be used for immigration and naturalization processing to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation and detention purposes.

If approved, these massive changes will transform access to naturalization, safety, and stability for millions. These harmful proposals would disproportionately affect low-income and working class people.

We can push the administration to back off of these price hikes with enough public pressure, but we need you to join the fight.
