Coal-beholden Sen. Joe Manchin is trying to shove legislation through that would give a boost to his bread and butter – coal, oil, and gas – at the expense of frontline communities and the environment.
In order to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which included the largest investment in renewable energy this country has seen, Manchin slipped in a dirty deal for new fossil fuel extraction projects as a trade for his vote – this after initially opposing the climate legislation and stalling progress for months and months and months.
We owe Manchin nothing – especially not more fossil fuel projects that will harm the environment, speed up climate change, and directly impact frontline communities.
