When my colleagues see me coming, they joke and say, "there’s Barr, so it must be something about horses, bourbon, Toyota, coal, or the University of Kentucky!"
And they’re not wrong… I bleed Kentucky through and through. It’s where my family has always been, it’s the place that shaped me into the man I am, and it’s the Commonwealth that I’ve been so blessed to represent in Congress.
Now, towards the end of this email, I’m going to request something from you, but first, I want you to understand who I am, how I became the man I am, and what I’m hoping for my future and the future of my daughters.
Growing up, my sister was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis. Our family had to come together to support her treatment. This taught me that family is the most important thing, compassion is essential, struggle is inevitable, and perseverance is necessary.
It also showed me the need for high-quality, affordable and accessible healthcare for families – which continues to be a top issue for me in Congress.
My love for Kentucky met my interest in politics when I first interned in Washington in college. The ability to work on and fight for legislative policies that helped conservative causes was so rewarding.
Ultimately, I took a chance and ran for Congress in my hometown of Lexington against an incumbent Democrat and lost by 647 votes in one of the closest races in the country. But I recalled the lessons I learned as a child, and I persevered. Two years later I ran again and I was elected. Since being in Congress, I’ve fought hard for issues that actually matter to families like tax cuts, American energy, and affordable, high-quality healthcare options.
As the father of two young girls, I’ve tried to instill in my daughters the same lessons that my parents taught me as a child: compassion, perseverance, and determination.
I take my role as a father very seriously, as do I take my commitment to Kentucky and to America. But Fellow American, what is happening in our country is beyond concerning – it goes against everything I believe in.
Open borders, a failing economy, a massive energy crisis, un-elected bureaucrats ruling our Nation, suppression of free speech…
This is not the country I want to pass on to my children.
Thank you for reading this far, I wanted to tell you more about me and my WHY. Why day in and day out I’m working towards a better future for all of us. Now, I have an important ask for you.
But it is simple: I need your financial support to secure this seat and take back the House from the Democrats, who are trying to destroy the country we know and love. I hate to ask, but it’s our children’s futures on the line here.
HELP ANDY SAVE AMERICA >> I know better than anyone, that struggle is inevitable – that we are all bound to face it. But the struggles that you are dealing with because of self-serving Democrats in Washington is a choice, one made by those who don’t care about you.
I have a commitment to my family, to Kentucky, and to this country to give the next generation a chance at a future, not to hand down a bunch of crises. Democrats in DC have sold out our children’s future, which is why I need your help to put the majority back in the hands of Republicans and stop this nonsense. Can I count on your support?
I’ll leave you with this: we as individuals decide how to react to our circumstances. Despite everything, I continue to have hope. Today, I hope that you will take action, that you will stand up and say enough is enough. Today, I hope I have your support so we can save our country together.
HELP ANDY SAVE AMERICA >> God bless,
Andy Barr
