The Republican Party has declared war on reproductive privacy.
?
Doug LaMalfa wants to ban abortion completely, with no exceptions for rape or incest. He's lying when he says that this is a "states' rights issue." How do we know he's lying? Because he's the cosponsor of a "fetal personhood" bill that would classify ALL abortions as murder at conception. Look it up.
Even so-called "moderate" Republicans want to roll back women's' rights. Senator Lindsey Graham just yesterday introduced a bill to ban abortion after 15 weeks.
?
Here's the deal: the push to legislate reproductive freedom is a radical shift in how the political right sees the state. Gone are the days of "small government" conservatives, the modern GOP is explicitly about using the power of the state to enforce their moral and religious beliefs on everyone else.
?
Everyone is entitled to their personal religious beliefs. I myself am Catholic, and I have personal reservations about abortion. But my religious beliefs are PERSONAL, and our nation was explicitly conceived to keep religion out of lawmaking. That's why I support Roe v. Wade.
?
The GOP plan is to slowly strip away the rights of women to make personal choices about their bodies. It's about using the power of the state to take away the rights of women over their own bodies.

The Supreme Court is now Republican. We cannot rely on the judiciary to protect our constitutional rights. We need to win elections, and defeat anti-choice extremists like Doug LaMalfa.
