Team,
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Elissa is running in one of the most competitive seats in the country. And major news outlets agree. Both USA Today and Roll Call recently released lists of the most vulnerable House seats, and Elissa was included on both.
Something that’s particularly concerning? There are 7 Democratic incumbents on the USA Today list and 6 on the Roll Call list — and Republicans only need 5 seats to retake the House. You can read the full analysis from USA Today ( here [[link removed]] ) and Roll Call ( here [[link removed]] ).
But, not only is this one of the most competitive, we just got word from AdImpact, an advertisement tracking agency, that it’s also the most *expensive* House race in the country. A whopping $20 million (!!!) has been spent or reserved on television so far.
We know what you’re wondering: how do you win in one of the most competitive AND the most expensive House races in the entire country? The answer is with grassroots support.
The vast majority of the money in this race is being spent on advertising by super PACs (groups that can raise and spend an unlimited amount of money to support any candidate they would like). There are a couple of big differences between the money super PACs spend vs candidates themselves. Namely, in the 60 days before an election, TV stations must give candidates a lower rate to air their own ads and communicate with voters.
We just entered that 60 day window, so the price of advertisements has dropped quite a bit. That means we’re able to make our money go quite a bit further than the super PACs are – and in such an expensive election that’s everything.
So, here’s our ask: will you send a few dollars our way to help us as we: fight back against the super PACs, help Democrats keep the majority, and compete in the one of the most competitive and expensive House races in the country? [[link removed]]
