Democrats are operating with the most tenuous control of the Senate – split right down the middle at 50-50. So it is essential that Democrats do two things: protect every Democratic seat (like mine in Connecticut), and increase the number of Democratic senators in Congress. We can do that by electing Val Demings in Florida.

Congresswoman Demings is running against Marco Rubio. She was in the lead in this close race – but after Marco Rubio spent $1.3 MILLION on ads, a poll now shows her 1 point BEHIND.

If you're already familiar with Congresswoman Demings' record, I wouldn't be surprised. She's one of the toughest public servants around, with 27 years of police service under her belt. From holding criminals accountable to managing Donald Trump's impeachment trial, she knows how to get it done.

Comparing her record to her opponent's, the choice is easy: While Marco Rubio was plotting to gain power within the GOP, Val Demings was risking her life to keep her community safe. She's clearly the better pick for Florida.

With national Republicans commanding a campaign war chest with tens of millions of dollars – enough to attack me and protect Marco Rubio – Val Demings and I need every bit of grassroots support. Together, we need to raise $20,000 by midnight tonight. Can we count on you to give?

Val's problem is Marco Rubio is running ads to attempt to distort her story of police service. Meanwhile, my opponent is a candidate loyal first and foremost to Donald Trump. With Mitch McConnell willing to cut any deal to regain power and push an extremist right wing agenda from the Senate onto the entire nation – including a national ban on abortion, we cannot fail.

If we don't have the resources to act now, we'll fall behind. That's why I'm personally asking you to chip in and help us win these crucial races.
