Breaking news, John: Yesterday, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham introduced a bill to ban abortion nationwide, and my opponent fully supports it.

We knew this would happen after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade this summer, but it doesn’t make this moment any less painful.

If this bill becomes law, the ramifications would be absolutely devastating. Not only would it strip women of the right to make decisions about their bodies and criminalize essential health care in all 50 states, but it’d also worsen our nation’s maternal health crisis and put countless lives in danger.

Thankfully, our Democratic majorities will keep this bill from becoming law for the time being, but as of this week, the election is just 8 weeks away. Republicans are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to flip seats like mine and reclaim the majorities. If they’re successful, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, and my opponent have made it clear they’ll fight to ban the right to choose nationwide. We can’t let that happen.

So, as we process this news with anger, sadness, and grief, we must also use this moment to roll up our sleeves and strengthen our resolve to fight back against attacks on our fundamental rights — and I’m asking for you to stand with me.
