Dear John,

After raising taxes, the Trudeau government is now giving you back crumbs and expecting you to be grateful.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau just announced his “plan” to make life more affordable. It includes GST rebates that won’t even go to two thirds of Canadians.

A GST rebate is a nice gesture for some Canadians who will get some of their money back. But if Trudeau was serious about making your life more affordable, then he would cut your taxes across the board instead of tinkering around the edges with rebates.

You pay too much tax.

The average Canadian family paid $35,000 in taxes in 2020. That’s more than the average family spends “on basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing combined,” according to the Fraser Institute. That tax bill has more than doubled since 1961, even after accounting for inflation.

Your life would be more affordable if the government wasn’t overtaxing you.

And if Trudeau really wanted to make your life more affordable, then he would stop raising your taxes. He recently raised the carbon tax, payroll taxes and increased taxes on your favourite case of beer and bottle of wine.

Trudeau could make your life more affordable today by cutting taxes. In fact, he could save a driver between 18 and 30 cents per litre by cutting federal gas taxes.

Trudeau’s affordability “plan” is paying lip service to the real issue. But the fact he paid lip service shows he’s worried that Canadians are upset about the rising cost of living. That means you have an opportunity to push the government to provide meaningful tax relief. But you need to act.

You can join forces with thousands of other Canadians by sending Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland an email. You can tell Freeland to cut taxes to make your life more affordable by sending an email to this address: [email protected]

You’re paying too much tax because the government is wasting too much of your money. You could pay lower taxes if Trudeau wasn’t giving hundreds of millions of dollars to companies like Bombardier or giving 300,000 bureaucrats a pay raise during lockdowns or funding a sex toy show in Germany.

Thanks for taking action – it’s making a difference!

PS: Inflation is pushing up the price of everything and that’s bad for everyone, but, somehow, Bank of Canada executives still took home big bonuses. Those bankers work for you and you should know what they’re up to. You can learn all about it by clicking this LINK
