There aren't many candidates that I go to bat for, but I am reaching out today because we have an incredible opportunity to elect a real champion for justice and the people to the U.S. Senate in North Carolina.

I deeply believe in Cheri Beasley and know she is the woman we need representing the Tar Heel state in the Senate. She understands that the status quo isn’t working for too many families, and she’s not afraid to shake up the system.

Look, I know Cheri, and I know she’s not afraid to stand up to the powerful Washington insiders. She has proven throughout her years in public service that she cannot be bullied or intimidated out of doing what is right.

That is why super PACs are pouring limitless sums of money into this race to beat her. They’re already spending nearly $50 million trying to buy this seat.

It’s an all-too-familiar story. In fact, I wrote a book just like this, based on a true story, about how one billionaire bought an election to install his hand-picked candidate on a state Supreme Court.

This seat — and our next Senator’s vote — should not be for sale. That’s why we need to do everything we can to make sure Cheri wins.
