I’m Charles Graham, a Democrat running for Congress in North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District. Today, Donald Trump announced that he's coming to the heart of our district for a rally -- but first, let me share a quick story.

Last year we shared a campaign ad with folks across the country, it told a story about my hometown. When I was just a boy, the Ku Klux Klan announced a night rally in my home county of Robeson, North Carolina -- a poor farming community made up of Black, white, and American Indian folks like my family and me -- proud members of the Lumbee tribe.

Problem is, they were surrounded by 400 Lumbees. Hundreds of regular folks -- barbers, expectant mothers -- banded together to fight back against hate and ignorance and they ran the Klan clear out of town.

That ad put our campaign and this district on the map. Since then we've raised a lot of money, brought our communities together, and been working hard to deliver this seat in November

Our work has incumbent Republican, David Rouzer running scared. We know we can win this race but Donald Trump is coming down here to "rally the troops", just weeks before early voting starts.

I believe that human dignity is a human right and that our communities deserve better.
