In some parts of my district, the price of gasoline has fallen below $3 a gallon. This sharp decline of prices at the pump all over the country is having a direct positive impact on inflation.

Overall, the price of gasoline has fallen by 9.1% since June. This drop in prices has helped ease the cost of food and other items.

I will continue to support local oil and gas production so we can continue to drive down prices and leave more money in the pockets of South Texas families.

I attended an event recognizing the 9/11 attacks at the Woodmen Life Laredo Chapter. South Texas knows how important it is to remember our country’s values and keeping the country safe from terrorism. We will never forget. Thank you to the Elias Herrera Middle School Band, the band’s Director Mr. Garcia, the United South High School Choir, and all of the veterans and first responders who attended. As well, thank you to Mr. Palacios and all of the organizers for putting together this important event of memory.

I met with credit union officials, including Sal Guerrero of Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union in Live Oak and Yvonne De La Rosa-Flores of Credit Human in San Antonio, two Texas-based credit unions that serve hundreds of thousands of families in our region. In the meeting, we discussed how we can work together to lower costs for working families and implement policies that help business and boost jobs in the San Antonio area.

I attended a lucha libre event at Life Downs Laredo with my brother, Sheriff Martin Cuellar. Lucha libre is mexican wrestling that became popular in our border cities. I remember growing up watching great luchadores like el santo and mil caras. I had a great time and I look forward to more events like this in Laredo.

I attended a classic South Texas skeet shootout and cook off. It’s great to be outside and meet members of the community for friendly competition. Thank you to Joe Salinas and the rest of the organizers and participants for the delicious food and excellent marksmanship

I had a productive interview with Fox News about securing the border with my friend Congressman Tony Gonzalez Securing the border is my priority and I will always work across the aisle to achieve our goals!

I joined Bexar County Deputy Sheriff Rene Ochoa for a coffee and sweet bread at La Panadería in San Antonio. It was great hearing about how your work keeps San Antonio safe. Thank you to Jose Caceres Galicia, the owner of La Panadería, for the delicious food and friendly service

My San Antonio Outreach Coordinator, Eric Cleveland, attended the City of Live Oak’s 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony. Events like these are critical to remembering the events of September 11th and reminding us of the importance of our fight against terrorism.

My Laredo Outreach Coordinator, Melissa Peña, joined the City of Laredo for Mayor Pete Saenz’s proclamation declaring September 2022 “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Laredo, Texas”. We must remember the toll that cancer takes on young South Texans and invest in research that can help cure children with cancer.

Roberto joined Rio Grande City Commissioner Roger Olivarez and Col. Ross Barrera (Ret.) to discuss improvements to the historic Lee House. To reach more people, the site needs accessibility upgrades and paving, and I’m working hard to help Rio Grande City get the resources it needs.

Melissa attended the Washington Birthday Celebration Association’s unveiling of the 125th anniversary celebration poster by Armando Hinojosa. Thank you to Natalie Hernandez and the WBCA for the invitation and all you do for our community!

Roberto attended the 175th anniversary celebration of Fort Ringgold. This building has served purposes from housing soldiers to educating students, an important part of history in Starr County.
