Friend,
We are a nation of laws, and no one is above the law -- not even the President. When we as public servants take our oath of office, we swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That's why I was so disappointed to see the President of the United States use military and security assistance to entice a foreign government to investigate a political opponent. He did so in a way that weakened our ally, emboldened our enemy, and put our national security at risk. The President obstructed Congress' constitutional authority to investigate this abuse of power.
Unfortunately, President Trump violated his oath of office and must be held accountable. That's why I voted to impeach him for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
This vote was not about partisanship. It was about defending our democracy and protecting the delicate system of checks and balances created by our Founding Fathers. I made a promise to central Florida: I promised to stand up for the Constitution, for our democracy, and for the needs of your families -- no matter the political consequences.
But to keep that promise I need your help. I have a tough election looming, and six Republicans have already entered the race against me (including one that has raised over $100,000). Can I count on you to donate now so I can keep fighting for you?
When I worked for the Department of Defense, we always made national security decisions based on what was in the best interest of the American people. Now in Congress, I'm not going to let political games and partisan bullies stop me from doing my job. President Trump must be held accountable for his actions.
I’m never going to stop fighting for you. But this is more than a one-person effort. Can I count on you to have my back?
Thank you,
Stephanie
