Valli was born into slavery in a rice mill. She grew into a young girl watching helplessly as her parents were abused by the mill owner, often working through the day and night. She took care of her younger siblings as best she could, with no day off. Meals were sporadic and barely enough to sustain them.
When IJM learned about Valli and her family, we organized a rescue. Their freedom was only possible thanks to the support of people like you – and now you have a limited-time opportunity to do even more.
Imagine having twice the impact for a survivor like Valli. Her rescue was the start of a long journey to restoration for her. It was a journey made possible thanks to IJM Freedom Partners whose support sustains our ongoing protection and aftercare work for survivors rescued from modern-day slavery.
At every hurdle, Valli rose to the occasion and today she is studying to be a social worker so she can help others after she graduates.
New monthly donors by September 30 will have their monthly gift doubled for the first 12 months — up to a total of $360,000.
