Republicans callously took away women’s rights to make their own health care choices when they overturned Roe v. Wade and began pushing through measures to limit reproductive health care nationwide, including several trigger bans.
Just today, Senator Lindsey Graham introduced plans for a federal ban on reproductive rights at 15 weeks, proving once again just how out of step Republicans are with the majority of women. The good news in this is that we now see evidence that women aren’t giving up and giving in.
I’ve long supported the measures to codify reproductive rights into law and introduced legislation to codify birth control access into federal law. This summer, I helped pass a bill in the House to stop Republicans from criminalizing travel across state lines to access reproductive health care services.
Look, as a doctor, I feel nothing but fury at the idea of politicians and judges dictating personal health care decisions. Help us make sure women’s voices are heard this election, so a minority of extremists like Lindsey Graham don’t get to limit our rights and freedoms.
