I’m writing to you today because the newly-elected Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola and I are both top targets of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s aggressive strategy to win the House majority.

Mary’s the first woman and the first Alaskan Native to hold this House seat. She’s also the first Democrat in half a century to win her district (a distinction I proudly share here in IL-06.)

Her win is an enormous victory in a tough political climate. But in fewer than eight weeks, she’ll have to defeat both her opponents all over again.

Opponents who, unfortunately, have the full strength of the right-wing political machine behind them.

That’s why we both badly need your support to defend our seats and protect our Democratic House majority. Can I count on you to split a $30 contribution between us so we can continue fighting for truth, integrity, and democracy?

We have a long to-do list in Washington – from climate action to codifying reproductive rights to dealing with our gun violence epidemic – and we need smart, compassionate leaders like Mary Peltola.
