I’m in West Virginia with Joe and he wanted me to check in with you. Here are some highlights from our stops yesterday!

We met with Reverend Jenny Williams from the West Virginia Faith Coalition (WVFC), a Groundwork grantee, and a brand-new effort to seek justice and liberation for people who have been historically marginalized in the Mountain State. Faith communities have historically led the way for civil rights and community causes and WVFC seeks to continue that legacy in West Virginia. They provide community organizing training, coaching, and support to clergy and laity and serve as a platform for collective action at the state and local levels around legislation and community needs.
Organizations like WVFC are on the frontlines of the organizing movement, and they’re exactly the type of organization Groundwork looks for in our partner states. Seeing the programs they are able to implement with the assistance of the Groundwork grant program is inspiring.
Speaking of, did you see the news that we are already collecting our next round of grant applications? We have a goal to raise another $20,000 by the end of this month to support that program. However, with Joe and I on the road, we are falling a bit short of where we need to be by this time of the month.
Can we count on you to help us close the gap? [link removed] [[link removed]]
Back to West Virginia... As we visit with our organizers and grantees in West Virginia, the need only becomes more apparent. These folks are putting in the work day in and day out to make their communities better – and we’re here to help. In fact, we are the only national organization wholly focused on funding organizing in the states that most national Dems tend to write off.
We will keep the updates coming – more soon!
Emily
