For the last few weeks, Fox News has focused its attacks on Chicago (and me) over Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s racist migrant bussing policy.
Here’s what’s happening: Abbott has been bussing asylum-seekers to northern cities like Chicago to make a point about illegal immigration in his state.
Chicagoans have stepped up and are welcoming these migrants with open arms. And I couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve done. We’re a welcoming city, and we’ve proven that for centuries.
But Fox News has been lying about what’s happening -- by demagoguing the issue of immigration to rile up their MAGA base.
Fox can say whatever they want about me -- I’m used to their attacks. But with just six months until Election Day and multiple right-wing candidates trying to take us down, I need your help.
Chicago has a rich history of welcoming immigrants from all walks of life. Our diversity is our strength. So I won’t let a racist governor demagogue this issue for his reelection campaign.
