# [#]Today marks 18 years since the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban was enacted. While that important piece of legislation was in effect, the number of deaths from mass shootings in the U.S. fell – and when elected officials allowed it to expire in 2004, those numbers rose sharply yet again.
Two things are clear: 1.
These
kinds
of
bans
work.
2.
Congress
must
finish
the
job
and
protect
our
communities
from
preventable
gun
violence.
I cosponsored the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022 to take meaningful action towards getting dangerous weapons of war off of our streets and out of the wrong hands.
Now, we need to finish the job. Add your name to join me in this call to action: [[link removed]]DEMAND GUN SAFETY REFORM [[link removed]]
Since the beginning of my time in Congress, I’ve championed gun violence prevention measures and stood up to the gun lobby.
Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action, Brady PAC, and Giffords have all endorsed my campaign because they know that I remain committed to our shared mission of protecting our communities from senseless gun violence and taking weapons of war off the streets.
Congress delivered a real solution that reduced gun violence, and we can do it again. Sign on right away to amplify our call to action. [[link removed]]
Thanks for being a part of this important fight.
