Lindsey Graham and Senate Republicans just introduced a national abortion ban bill.
We’ve known all along that they would never stop with overturning Roe. The far-right’s plan from the start has been to ban abortion entirely, and my opponent has made clear that if he wins he would be a guaranteed vote for a nationwide abortion ban without exceptions.
They’ll take every chance they can to roll back our rights, and I’ve had enough. We will not back down as Washington politicians like Congressman Ted Budd work to take away our constitutional freedoms. Period.
Reproductive freedom is not a political football. As the former Chief Justice of North Carolina, I understand it is a constitutionally guaranteed right. It is health care. It is economic freedom. It is justice.
Long before Roe was overturned, I made clear that I would not hesitate to cast the decisive 51st vote to end the filibuster and protect abortion rights nationwide.
This is why we must win this race and expand our majority. The clearest path to passing this essential legislation runs through North Carolina this November.
I promise to do everything in my power as your next Senator to push federal protections for abortion through the U.S. Senate and into law.
If we lose this race, Republicans will have one more guaranteed vote for a national abortion ban without exceptions. We cannot let that happen.
